I was running quite late this morning, mainly due to the facts that (a) I didn’t sleep well, or much; and (b) I dawdled in the tub. That meant I didn’t have time to dry my hair. Fortunately, it’s very fine, and it’s quite short, so it was dry in about 10-15 minutes. I didn’t put any product in either, since, as I say, I was running quite late.
One of my co-workers just stopped by my desk to ask if I use a flat iron on my hair. Nope. (Well, if it dried funky because I went to bed with it wet, I might.) How, then, do I get my hair to lie so straight and flat. Um, I have straight hair. Very straight hair. And now that it’s nice and short, it’s also nice and shiny. For some reason, when I let my hair grow long, it gets frizzy and dull.
Anyway, she was jealous because she has short curly hair that apparently she uses a flat iron on, but it still won’t lie straight and flat.
Man, when I was a kid, I’d have done ANYTHING for curly hair, and frequently did. Perms? Oh yeah, man, 80’s perms, you remember those, right? If you don’t, watch any movie or music video from the 80’s and you’ll see what I was talking about. And when I was younger still, I remember reading stories about girls who got sick and all their hair fell out and they were sad but then when their hair grew back it came in curly. Yes, you guessed it, I used to wish I would catch some consumptive illness that would make all my hair fall out, just so it could grow back in curly.
Life’s a lot less complicated when I deal with the hair I have. Fine and straight.
But if someone makes some fantastic discovery that can turn fine and straight hair into thick curly masses, let me know. 🙂
