Hi. My name is Faith, and I’m a Slurpeeholic.

I met my goal last week of having only 2 regular sized Slurpees.  And I seemed on track for making my goal again this week, until today.

See, my lap band is a wee bit tight. And by wee bit, I mean I throw up virtually everything I eat and I’m sick to death of it.

So last night after work I went to the mall to buy some glasses.  The glasses store had a big deal going on–two pairs of glasses, even unlined bifocals, for only $99!  What that really means, of course, is “two pairs of glasses, even unlined bifocals, with the regular heavy lenses that aren’t scratch resistant and aren’t glare resistant and don’t transition to sunglasses for only $99!” It would have cost me $550 for two pairs of lined bifocals with lightweight lenses that are scratch resistant and glare resistant and transition; it would have been about $350 for one pair of glasses; so I split the difference and got one pair of glasses and one pair of prescription sunglasses for $415.

After I left the glasses place, bemoaning the fact that my glasses are due to be in right around Thanksgiving and praying fervently that they come in the day before rather than the day after, because I don’t want to go anywhere near a mall after Thanksgiving, I got to the food court and saw they had a Panda Express. I’ve been craving PeiWei noodles, so this was a sad sorry substitute, but there it is. I ate a few bites of my dinner and threw the rest away.

I stopped next at Hot Topic because I was lured in by the sign promising an extra 50% off clearance items. I got a Gryffindor tie (not on clearance, but on Halloween sale, so it was actually 75% off) and a pair of Reptar hair clips that I shall wear ironically, and a couple of Harry Potter necklaces because I’m a dork. And then I meandered through Earthbound Trading Company, trying to decide whether or not to purchase the wall hanging I wanted to purchase, but ended up not doing so because I don’t want to buy any decor type items until I’m settled in my home. And then I went to the car.

By the time I had exited the mall parking lot, I realized my dinner wanted to come back up. So I ran into Half Price Books and threw up in the bathroom. I felt weak and shaky and extremely crabby about it. I hung around for 10 or 15 minutes, just in case I needed to throw up again. Thank goodness I didn’t, and I went home with no further ado but $4 broker because I bought two packs of notecards that were on clearance.

Then today I threw up again.  And my tummy was queasy and I wanted a Slurpee to chill things down and soothe my tummy. And I got one. A big one. Not a ginormous oh-my-gosh size, but a big one. And my lunch came back up anyway.

So I called the doctor’s office and I’m going in Monday afternoon for a small unfill, after which I fervently hope I’ll be able to eat again. I want salad. I want mashed potatoes. Faithie want food! And the PA told me that until then, I need to stay on liquids because all the throwing up is making the stomach around my band swell up, making it even more constricted. So my meals until then shall consist of protein shakes.

And I promise not to get another Slurpee until next Wednesday afternoon. Pinkie swear.

It’s 11/11/11, make three wishes.

Only 3 wishes? Awwwww, poop.

  1. I wish I could make money doing something I really genuinely love, that makes the world a little bit better place. Don’t get me wrong–I love my job, and I have a great boss, which makes all the difference. But working in operational controls in auto finance isn’t something that feels meaningful to me. And I need more money.
  2. I wish I felt free to be completely and totally myself with the people I love, instead of feeling like I have to hide different parts of myself from different people.
  3.  I wish the guys who are supposed to be making sure our house insurance claim gets processed correctly would get their thumbs out of their backsides and do it.

There are three wishes. What are yours?
