Lots of Love Needed

Please keep Izzybella in your thoughts. Her beautiful Baxter dog has to be put down on Friday. He’s been very ill for quite a while, and he’s just not even eating anymore.

Baxter is so sweet, and I’ve loved him a lot. The last few times I’ve seen him, his weight loss has been very noticeable. What’s even more noticeable, though, is how much he loves Izzybella. I have watched him looking at her, leaning on her, wanting to soak up her love and treasure every moment he gets with her.

She’s hurting, a lot, and I know she’ll be grateful for your thoughts/prayers/white light.  Thanks.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mother’s birthday.  I know I’ll sound a wee bit prejudiced when I say this, but I have a truly awesome mother.

She’s taught me a lot about life. I think one of the most important things I’ve learned from her is to never give up on something important. Take school, for example. She was heavily pregnant with my brother when she received her B.A.  Throughout the ensuing years, she didn’t have the luxury of only having to raise a family and attend college, but had very challenging jobs as well. But she persevered, and ultimately obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Utah.  Or take writing. She has been a writer since birth, I think, and relentlessly sent her manuscripts out until one day someone bit. Since then, she has had 21 novels and 2 nonfiction books published, and has appeared in two anthologies. She also runs her own e-publishing company and works for Project Gutenberg.

Life has not been easy for her, nor has it been kind. But she knows that there’s more to her existence than this life, something that is immensely comforting to her.

I’ve given her plenty of grey hairs, and I think sometimes when Izzy and I are reminiscing and we tell her about the things she never knew we did, she gets even greyer.  She’s no dummy, though, and some of the things we got away with we learned that she knew about all along.

In case you can’t tell, I really love my mom. And if you knew her, you’d love her, too.

Happy birthday, Mom!!!!!
