I may have mentioned, once or twice, how much I love and adore Joss Whedon. Well, a few days ago he had something to say on a topic that is near and dear to my heart.

While I am right now focusing on the situation in Juarez, because that’s what our next show is about, I am passionate about human rights. I abhor violence of all kinds, but violence against women and children makes me sickest of all, I think, because it’s so often perpetrated by people who do it just because they can. Just because they’re bigger, stronger, because their traditions dictate that it is acceptable.

Well, it’s not.

Go read what Joss had to say. And, as I’ve been saying a lot lately, get educated. Get involved. Do something.  On my links page, you’ll find a link for Amnesty International, as well as a few Juarez links. You may not be interested in the Juarez project. That’s all right. But at Amnesty International, you will find plenty of ways that you can get involved.

And if you’re interested in wearing a statement that could provoke some discussion, go here. I’ve already ordered mine, and will be wearing it as soon as it arrives.

I’m tired of just sitting on my ass and weeping when I read about these things. Yes, I’ll continue to weep when I read them, because they’re incredibly painful and moving. But it’s good to know that I’m doing my damnedest to get them to stop.

What Happened?

Here are a few photos from our last show, What Happened. For those of you who don’t know me in person, I’m the one wearing the bright red shirt.  I can’t figure out how to make the pictures just the right size–there’s always somebody (or more) cut off at the side, which I don’t like. But the thumbprint sizes are too small!!

Friday’s slumber party was a BLAST!  Okay, so it was just Soleil, Vanessa, and me, but the actual numbers aren’t as important as the amount and quality of fun had, right? And the amount and quality of fun was good. Makeovers and mango margaritas ensued. Photos were taken–Soleil, if you’re reading this, could you pretty please e-mail photos to me so I can upload???–of the good and the, um, well, peculiar.

We also read through two plays: Chamber Music, by Kopit, and The Wasps, by I forget who right now, and Soleil has the book. We’re hoping to do those 2 seasons in the future. And, yes, I’m please to announce that I’m going to direct Chamber Music!  I’ve never directed anything in my life, so in the next year and a half or so until we put that one on, I will be studying directing and will AD a play so I can learn how to do it.  But how awesome is it that I am part of a group that not only allows its members to learn new things, but encourages them to and provides opportunities for them to do so!?!

I am very saddened to have to report that Soleil’s cat, Kitty Kitty, is a slut.  During the course of the night, she made the rounds, sleeping on the bed with Vanessa, on the couch with Soleil, and in my sleeping bag with me.  She also seems to have been taking “cute” lessons, because she was showing off both Friday night and Saturday morning. And trust me when I say that she has cute down pat.

Saturday’s meeting also went well.  Can I just mention again how much I love everybody in MoMentuM????  ‘Cause on account of how I do.

I got home around 5ish, I think, on Saturday, and kind of zoned out. I was pooped. Joe and I made a trip together to the grocery store this weekend, but other than that I didn’t do a whole lot else the rest of the weekend other than sleep and have very bizarre dreams.

If I were into writing soft-core porn, which I so am NOT, I had a very erotic dream about vampires and how they are created and things that would make a really good book. However, as I said, there is no way on this green earth that I would ever write that book. Besides, it’s not like I have any lack of book ideas.  But what’s even more strange is that I went from these very sexually explicit vampire dreams into very non-sexual Harry Potter dreams and then slid back into the vampire dreams. It went back and forth like that for what seemed like hours.  I felt very perplexed when I woke up, and a little dirty, and grateful that at least the sexual vampire dreams and the non-sexual Harry Potter dreams didn’t merge together. Because that would have been just too disturbing for words.

And now that I’ve given you that glimpse into my psyche, I’m going to change the subject. I wanted to show you the totally adorable shoes I bought and am wearing today, but I seem to have left my cell phone at home. So alas, I cannot. Perhaps later this week, because I foresee that these will rapidly become favorites.

It’s supposed to be nice and rainy all week. Yay for rainy weather! I like rain. Unless I don’t want it, in which case I don’t. But I do, so again I say, Yay for rainy weather!
