I never knew Dewey, never talked to her or e-mailed her or blogged her. But she created something marvellous. By starting the semi-annual readathons, she linked people all over the world into this great community. This is my first year to participate, and I am loving it so much! It’s a real-time way to connect with people. I’m laying on my stomach in bed reading, and there are people everywhere laying on their stomachs in bed, or on the floor, or on the sofa, or in the bathtub. And we’re all reading at the same time. It’s a monumental feat.
kudos. and thank you.
Dewey was wonderful. When you logged in every day, she was there, or had been there with thoughts, reviews, encouragement…she was a phenomenon.
i didn’t know her, but i checked in at her blog occasionally and i love love love the read-a-thons. she was pretty incredible.
I know! isn’t it awesome? bookbloggers ROCK and Dewey really set the standard. She was beloved.
Like you, I didn’t know Dewey, but the Readathons are a great memorial to her ongoing influence in the book blogging world.
This is my first Readathon too. I can’t wait for the next one.
