Introducing the newest member of the Chauceriangirl Family:

We went to the petstore after lunch. On a Saturday. That means an adoption agency is there with all the homeless dogs and cats that need a loving family. And one look at him and our hearts just melted. We’ve discussed getting another dog over the years, but always were reluctant to do so because Molly’s been an only dog for so long. But after talking the situation over with the people from the adoption agency, they gave us some pointers on how to help things along. And I just couldn’t resist.
He’s a dachshund mix. I’m not overly familiar with dachshunds, but he seems rather large to me. Don’t know what the rest is, but it makes for a very lovable dog who can’t stop kissing us. He also can jump several times his height–Joe was astonished to see him leap over Molly.
And as for Molly, she’s taking this interloper rather better than I’d expected or dared hope for. She’s obviously stressed, but she’ll come out from under the bed when we call her, and so far is tolerating him okay. I hope that they’ll come to enjoy each other’s company.
Scout is a rescue dog. His previous owners moved away and left him in the back yard. Some neighbors heard him barking and called for help. He’s fairly well trained–seems to know the commands for sit, stay, down, and obeys as well as his excitable nature will let him. He’s a darling. If you’re ever out this way, please come visit and meet our two fur-babies!
